Remember the post I wrote about how she can support him on the journey to parenthood?
Today we’re flipping the script — let’s talk about how he can show up for her.
Because the truth is, fertility looks different for every couple. Some get pregnant on the first try. Others are surprised by an unexpected positive test. And for many, the road is longer, with more waiting, more hoping, and sometimes more tears.
If that’s you — please know this: it’s normal. It’s normal for her to feel emotional. It’s normal for her to carry the brunt of the physical and mental load. And it’s normal for you, as her partner, to sometimes feel helpless.
But here’s the good news: even if you can’t take the needles, the blood draws, or the two-week wait off her plate, you can make a huge difference. Small, consistent actions of love and care mean everything.
So, let’s talk about real ways you can support her — not just with words, but with actions.
Prenatal vitamins aren’t just for pregnant women — they’re for women preparing their bodies to become pregnant. The earlier supplementation begins, the better because women need adequate nutrient stores to meet the greater nutrient demands of a growing baby.
Here’s where you come in:
➝ Keep her prenatals where she’ll see them (bedside table, next to the coffee maker, in her purse).
➝ Hand her a glass of water with them in the morning so she doesn’t forget.
➝ If you’re a “systems” guy, set a reminder on your phone to nudge her daily.
My favorite prenatal option — Designs For Health Prenatal Pro Essential Bundle — makes it easy with everything she needs in one kit:
PrenatalPro multivitamin with bioavailable nutrients her body can absorb
OsteoForce multimineral for baby’s bones and mama’s bone health
OmegAvail Ultra fish oil for essential omega-3s
This isn’t just about popping pills — it’s about you saying, “I see you, I care about your body, and I’m in this with you.”
Hormones don’t just appear out of thin air — they’re built from the food she eats. And the MVP here? Healthy fats.
Think of cholesterol like the bricks of a house. Without enough bricks, you can’t build the walls. Without enough cholesterol, her body can’t build estrogen, progesterone, or the other hormones needed for baby-making.
Avocados are packed with folate, a B vitamin that helps boost fertility in both men and women and prevents neural tube defects. Avocados are also extremely rich in anti-inflammatory monounsaturated fats.
Research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week (I actually suggest one avocado per day!), it balances hormones, sheds unwanted weight, and prevents cervical cancers.
Eggs are a fertility and pregnancy superfood! They are incredibly nutrient dense, loaded with vitamin A, choline, iodine, selenium, highly digestible protein, and, depending on what the chicken ate, good levels of vitamin E, vitamin K2, and DHA.
Egg yolks are also a great source of choline – a critical nutrient for baby’s brain development that also helps prevent birth defects. Always choose pasture-raised eggs, this guarantees that the chickens from which they come from are feasting on nutrient-rich grasses, bugs, and insects.
Wild caught salmon, mackerel, sardines, and herring are rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to improve fertility by helping to regulate hormones in the body, increase cervical mucus, promote ovulation and overall improve the quality of the uterus by increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs.
Omega-3’s are also anti-inflammatory, therefore helping to reduce inflammation in the body. In regards to fertility, reducing inflammation is especially important in the pelvic area.
Coconut oil (and other coconut products) contains Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) which are the easiest type of fatty acid that your body can burn for calories, making it beneficial for weight management and quick energy production. MCTs are a very unique form of saturated fat that have been shown to possess antioxidant and antimicrobial properties to help support the immune system, as well as antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral immune benefits.
Coconut products also contain a high amount of lauric acid, one of the main fatty acids found in breastmilk.
This one might surprise you, but orgasms are actually fertility-friendly. They boost oxytocin (the “love hormone”), improve circulation, and can even help sperm stick around longer.
Orgasms energize your hypothalamus gland, which regulates appetite, body temperature, emotions, and the pituitary gland, which, in turn, regulates the release of reproductive hormones that induce ovulation and cervical fluid.
Orgasms can also help create a healthy pregnancy overall, and has been proven to help more women carry to term.
So, whether it’s you lending a hand, or her flying solo, regular pleasure is powerful. Think of it as self-care with benefits — for both of you.
Vitamin D is basically fertility’s best friend — it helps balance hormones, improves egg quality, and even supports conditions like PCOS and endometriosis.
Your job? Get her outside.
➝ Suggest a daily walk together during peak sunlight hours.
➝ Plan a picnic in the park without sunscreen for the first 20 minutes (that’s when her body makes the most vitamin D).
➝ When sun isn’t an option, pick up a high-quality vitamin D+K2 supplement.
Extra sweet fact: just 20 minutes in the sun can help her body make up to 25,000 IU of vitamin D. That’s like nature’s fertility supplement.
Yes, sex counts 😉. But so does moving your bodies outside the bedroom.
Encourage her to stay active with things that feel good: walking, swimming, yoga, cycling. Join in with her — it’s more fun together, and it makes her feel supported instead of pressured. But also sweat outside, while absorbing the Vitamin D — it’s basically a double whammy.
Sixty minutes of daily movement will get her heart rate up, increase circulation to her reproductive organs, and help to improve overall physical and mental health. Focused movement will go a long way in optimizing fertility and increasing the chances of getting pregnant, and maintaining a healthy, full term pregnancy.
Think of it as training for the marathon of birth. The stronger and healthier she is going in, the smoother her recovery will be after.
Here’s one that feels almost spa-like: castor oil packs. They’ve been used for thousands of years to support circulation, detox, and reproductive health.
Want to win serious partner points?
➝ Set up a cozy corner with a blanket and a warm compress.
➝ Soak the cloth in castor oil and hand it to her like you’re running the spa.
➝ Put on her favorite playlist or podcast so she can relax.
It’s simple, intimate, and sends the message: I want to take care of you.
Essentially, in this technique, a cloth is soaked in unrefined castor oil (referred to as a castor oil pack) and is then placed on the area of the body you are wanting to heal. The castor oil soaks into the skin and starts to work on the internal organs. Castor oil stimulates blood circulation and heals the tissues and organs below the surface of the skin where the castor oil pack is placed.
Stimulating circulation and healing in her internal body is an integral step in increasing her fertility and giving birth to a happy, healthy baby. Castor oil therapy helps to naturally detox the liver, cleanse the lymphatic system, and promote proper circulation — all of which are essential in optimizing a woman’s fertility.
Here’s how to set up castor oil packs, and here’s how to use castor oil packs with fertility massage to truly uplevel her fertility.
If months are passing and pregnancy isn’t happening, one of the most loving things you can do is encourage her to get hormone testing. It’s not about blame — it’s about clarity.
You can:
➝ Offer to order the test for her.
➝ Sit with her while she takes it at home.
➝ Be there when she opens the results.
Knowledge is power, and it’s a lot easier to face that data when you’re not alone.
Hormone testing is a simple and effective way to ensure that she’s not experiencing any hormonal imbalance that can be an underlying cause of fertility issues. By taking a simple, non-invasive, at-home hormone test, your girl can get a better idea of how healthy her hormones, eggs, and reproductive system are.
You can find my favorite hormone test here: At-Home Comprehensive Fertility Hormone Testing.
At the end of the day, this isn’t her journey or your journey — it’s yours together. Supporting her doesn’t mean you have to fix everything. It means showing up, again and again, with love, patience, and the little things that remind her she’s not carrying this alone.
And if you’re both ready for deeper support, I’d love to walk alongside you. I offer 1:1 consultations for couples who want to optimize their fertility, get answers, and feel confident about the road ahead. Because fertility isn’t a solo mission — it’s a team sport. 💛
